How Balanced is Your Wheel of Life? Are you on the Road of Life with a flat tire?

Imagine, if you will, your life represented as a wheel, with each spoke representing a major area of your life or certain aspect about yourself. For you to have a smooth ride, your wheel needs to be equally supported by each spoke. Balanced. If a spoke is weak or damaged, you'll eventually end up with a flat tire or a really bumpy ride.

So let's look at your Wheel of Life. For this example, we'll break it down into the following areas:

  • Friends & Family

  • Career

  • Physical Environment

  • Personal Growth

  • Money

  • Health

  • Fun & Recreation

  • Significant Other/Romance

These eight sections represent one way of describing a whole life. The Wheel of Life exercise measures your level of satisfaction in these areas on the day you work through this exercise. Taking the center of the wheel as 0 and the outer edge as an ideal 10, rank your level of satisfaction with each life area by drawing a curved line to create a new outer edge. The new perimeter represents your Wheel of Life. How bumpy would your ride be if this were a real wheel?

The first page is pre-filled with the categories listed above. The second page is blank for you to fill in categories that you feel are more relevant to your life right now. Some other examples are: spirituality, community, intellectual, self-care, and so on.
